Always look behind you when doing plein air! This was the scene behind me as I was painting plein air yesterday. Thank goodness I got a photo of it. It was as beautiful as what was in front of me.
It was hard to capture the correct colors in this. The ground is much warmer than the trees in real life and the skyholes are actually blue. I'll get a better photo of it after it has dried for a couple of days.
I did some plein air today right down the road from my house. The owners of the property gave me permission!! I've been looking at this gorgeous field for about 7 years now and finally got to set up and paint. Got there about 9:00 this morning and stayed until about 3:00 this afternoon. The weather was perfect and I was able to drive my car onto the property and set up right next to it. As I painted, I rocked out with Def Leppard!! LOL
Here's my 3rd little oil painting.
I used a palette of hansa yellow, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, and titanium white.
A limited palette is SO much fun!! Sure is a change from my millions of pastels.
I joined an oil painting challenge on FaceBook recently. We can only use black, white, alizarin crimson, cad yellow medium, and ultramarine blue. Here is my painting so far. It's been lots of fun to take out my oil paints and alkyds again!! 6"x6" oils/alkyds on Raymar panel.
