©2012 Paula Ann Ford, Protected Place, Soft Pastels on Ampersand Pastelbord, 12"x12"

Here is a piece I started last night.  LOL...when I went to bed, I liked it.  When I got up, I hated it and almost washed it off.  Then I got a second wind and spruced it up a bit and now I think it came out pretty good.  Oh, I've done this one before in oils and now that I'm back to my pastels, thought I'd try it again.

Call for Artists

From Shuptrine's Gold Leaf Designs..... Call for Artists

Come one, come all! As we all know, Chattanooga is a beautiful city with breathtaking views of the city, the river, and our beloved mountains. In celebration of our great city, and all of the wonderful artists of the world, we are hosting the first annual Scenic City Paint Out! All artists are welcome, and it will be a Plein Air event hosted by our very own, Brett Weaver. Join us for a week in April of 2013 to take workshops, paint various gorgeous views in Chattanooga, win prizes, and showcase your work! There is a $35 application fee, but all mediums will be considered for the Scenic City Paint Out ( tentatively scheduled for April 12-20th) . This event supports our own Reflection Riding Nature Center, a non-profit organization in Chattanooga. Please contact Bonny Shuptrine at 423-266-4453 or thegallery@goldleafdesigns.com for more information and to find out how to participate.

©2012 Paula Ann Ford, Vintage Ski Hill, Soft Pastels on Ampersand Pastelbord (Adirondack painting)

In celebration of autumn, here's what I've been working on.  I started with an alcohol wash underpainting (see the post below).  It's another view of the same place I painted earlier.

Finished tonight. This was the first ski hill in Old Forge, NY, in the early 1900s. Such a beautiful spot with lots and lots of potential paintings.
